Nova Scotia Driving Test Practice: Ace your driving Test

When you encounter a road closure sign, the appropriate action is to follow the detour and avoid closed areas. This is crucial for both your safety and the safety of road workers or other drivers. Detour signs are put in place to guide drivers around obstacles or hazardous situations, ensuring that traffic can continue to flow smoothly and safely while avoiding areas that may be dangerous or impassable.

Driving slowly through a closed area poses significant risks, as there could be hazards such as construction equipment, unexpected road conditions, or workers present that could lead to accidents. Turning around immediately might also not be practical; in many cases, there may not be a safe or available area to do so, leading to possible confusion and additional hazards. Asking other drivers for instructions is not advisable because they may also be unsure of the best route, and relying on others for navigation could potentially lead to more dangerous situations.

By adhering to the detour instructions, you are not only complying with traffic regulations but also contributing to a safer driving environment for everyone on the road.
